Mike Harrison | Lead Pastor
What is your position/responsibility at Church212º?
I am the lead pastor at Church212º, acting like a baseball manager. I pray for the Lord's guidance to ensure we have the right players in the right positions at the right times in the game.
What is your vision/goal for this role?
I live to empower others to fulfill their God-given call and walk in their full potential.
How & when did you first come to Church212º?
I am the founding pastor, so it was necessary that I come:-)!
What is something you find unique and appreciate about Church212º?
The people have embraced the "restoring people by the love of God..." vision, so the love of God's people makes Church212º a special place to be.
Where are you from?
I was "born and raised" in Alabama. Some of the first words I learned to say were, "Roll Tide!" Besides college football, the biblical worldview was prevalent throughout the South and has helped to shape who I am as a person.
Tell us about your family members. Feel free to use adjectives.
I am blessed with a wife of almost 40 years and four talented, passionate, adult children and eight grandchildren. The major joy in life is seeing the legacy continue.
Please provide a short testimony about your relationship with Christ?
I gave my life to Christ the 2nd Tuesday of March, 1973. After being in a Southern Baptist church for 3 years, I knew the Gospel message. In 1975, I answered the call to ministry and sought to know the Lord in a very personal way so I could introduce Him to others. He has been a constant friend and has guided my life for these many years.
Along with redemption, what principle or promise or verse from the Bible has had the most transformative effect on your life?
1 Corinthians 1:26-29, where Paul wrote the qualifications for the person who seeks to be used by God: "not many wise after the flesh...mighty...not many noble... foolish...weak...base things...things despised...things which are not...that no flesh should glory in His presence." I knew I met all of these qualifications. 🙂
What is the best place you have ever visited?
As a passionate student of the Book of Romans, my visit to Rome, Italy. Stephanie and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary walking the streets Paul & Peter walked 2,000 years ago. A very special time and place.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
The Coachella Valley, for it is here that God's perfect will has been revealed. I committed as a high school student: "I plan to let God run my life". What pleases Him pleases me!
Name a food you can’t wait to eat in heaven without guilt or consequence.
Alabama stir fry: fried squash, okra, onions, potatoes, and green tomatoes! And I'll ask the Lord to let Stephanie cook it with her wonderful homemade buttermilk cornbread!!!
These are a few of my favorite things.
... reading books. studying theology, traveling the world with Stephanie, and hanging out out with my kids and grandkids and eatin' good food. 🙂
