Daniel Harrison | Worship Pastor
What is your position/responsibility at Church212º?
I am the worship pastor at Church212º I have the humbling privilege to serve and oversee all volunteers in planning, scheduling, and implementation of the weekend worship experience. You can check out our awesome team at work here.
I am also a singer-songwriter and have a few records on iTunes. Here is a music video of my recent single, Turn My Desert.
What is your vision/goal for this role?
My vision for the worship department is for both those who are serving in the worship department and those who attend the weekend service. I believe that spiritual leadership is not about using people to complete tasks but using tasks to grow people. All around, we seek to glorify God through both skillfulness of hands and integrity of heart—restoring all participants, igniting passion, and revealing God’s purpose.
How & when did you first come to Church212º?
I have been apart of Church212º since it’s inception. When my father decided to plant a church in 2008, there was no question that I would serve him as he served Christ. It has been a privilege to learn under my hero: a man of biblical wisdom, humility, and integrity. I mean this when I say it… If I were only half the man he is, I would be the whole man I want to be. There’s only one way anyone could fill the shoes of that man—take his shoes.
What is something you find unique and appreciate about Church212º?
We love people. Is that unique? Or normal?
Where are you from?
I was born in a little 25,000 member town, Cullman, Alabama. When I moved to California, I perused over a newspaper from the New York Times and I read, “the most likely place a terrorist will attack—New York City.” Then it followed with, “the least likely place a terrorist will attack—Cullman, AL.” Thank God I moved!!
Tell us about your family members. Feel free to use adjectives.
I am married to Heather Marie. Heather is a ferocious, yet gentle, godly woman. I attribute a large portion of who I am to the strength and wisdom of her. I have two children, Heshmon (boy) and Noah (yes, a girl).
I have two brave parents, Mike and Stephanie Harrison. I am the youngest of four siblings all of which are way cooler than me. Chris is the oldest—he is loud, crazy, extremely smart, and the life of all parties. Leah is the next oldest—she is very wise, entrepreneurial, and really loves me! Elisha is the third oldest—also wise, relaxed, and she has a wonderful little boy that is practically a twin cousin to my little boy.
Please provide a short testimony about your relationship with Christ.
I have grown up in church and therefore should have the perfect testimony—not true. No need for me to tell all the stories of my crazy upbringing. Listen to my parents long enough you will hear them all!
As a child, I grew up adopting the beliefs of authorities in my life. The greatest testimony I’d say, is how my faith in Jesus Christ has been both founded and continued in a real life-changing relationship with God and his Word.
Along with redemption, what principle or promise or verse from the Bible has had the most transformative effect on your life?
The foundation of the Christian faith is that—faith works.
Along with redemption with Christ, comes a commission from Christ: go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that Christ has commanded, and He will be with us to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:16-20)
With that said, my faith in the Savior is tantamount with compliance of his Lordship. As a premise for disciple-making, I am committed to what Jesus said in Matthew 24:14, “This Gospel of the kingdom must be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, then the end will come.”
What is the best place you have ever visited?
Locally, my favorite place to visit is WingStop. I always get the Mango Habanera and Serrano Herb. My favorite global place to visit is the Philippines—the most bucolic scenery I’ve witnessed with the sweetest subservient people.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Where ever my family is!
Name a food you can’t wait to eat in heaven without guilt or consequence.
Well that would be lots of wings, lots of soda, and lots of French fries. That is an honest confession.
These are a few of my favorite things...
I love reading, spending time with family, and playing sporadic golf with my brother; school is awesome, always growing, and spending time with my ministry friends is key—just doing life.
